Another Saturday...Shelby played in her 4th ball game. Only letting Knox and I be there. She's a little more confident each week.
Ordered Bubba's cake, got party favors bought and assembled, with help from J & K.
Road a dirt bike by myself for the first time!!!! Only for 2 minutes and it was Shelby's PW 80, but still it was a big moment for me. In the 20 years I've known Andrew, and all the bikes he's had....never have I ridden one by myself. No pictures...but maybe next time!
Introduced the kids to Forrest Gump for the first time. It was pizza and movie night....FG happened to be on. They enjoyed the first half of it. We'll watch the rest another night.
When I was putting Knox to bed, he said to me, out of the blue, " Momma, I'm not going to suck my thumb anymore." I complimented him on his decision, but told him I knew it was tough and he could stop when he was ready. He proceeded to tell me a list of others at his school that suck their thumb. He was restless for about 10 minutes....then he tells me "I'm trying to not suck my thumb, but i want to. " then he puts his thumb in his mouth and rolls over to go to sleep.... Oh Bubba it's tough being 5.
Bounce party tomorrow for Knox and Riley! Yee haw!

Back to School Blessings
Today was filled with many blessings....
Wearing new boots and new necklace that were gifts.
Wearing an old pair of Mom's earrings that had been packed away for 14+ years, but look and feel brand new after a good cleaning and remind me so much of her.
A smooth morning getting out the door and everyone to school happy & on time
A coworker holding the door for me as my hands were full
Hearing about everyone's break , where they went , how they spent their time and noticing how so many seem to have matured so much in just 2 wks.
Students teaching other students.
Catching up with Angie on phone.
Picking kids up and hearing about how great their day back was.
Kids taking showers and getting pjs on BEFORE supper.
Andrew making supper, with everyone else workings as a team to get it to the table.
Helping Shelby with math homework and Jerzy reading, and being amazed at their knowledge and skills that grow everyday.
Watching Last Man Standing with everyone and hearing their laughter. AND Jerzy saying this was the funniest one yet.
Two surprise blessings of the day....I got 2 total, random surprise visits from 2 very special former students. Loved hearing about the ups and downs of their first semester in college.I met both these young men on my first day of teaching 3+ years ago at LHS when they were 15. Today they are both almost 19 and I've been fortunate to witness their growth and change thru these important years. I'm honored and humbled that they take the time to come visit me and other special teachers.
Thank you Lord for all these blessings!!

Break time is over
Heading back to work & school tomorrow. It has been a great break, but we're all ready for a return to routine and a "break" from each other. All the Christmas decorations have been packed up. We enjoyed some more time outside today and a grocery store trip.
This morning we watched the Rose Parade and had a special interest in the Donate Life float. Our friend Angela's flora graph was one featured on the float. The side Of the float with her pic, was not shown on TV , but we knew it was there! We had the chance to see it a couple weeks ago at the special reception her family hosted. Very special and touching. I teach a unit on organ donation in one of my classes and this situation encourages me to continue exposing students to the facts, personal stories, ethics and options regarding organ donation.
