We had a great weekend, enjoying Halloween activities.Shelby was Supergirl, Jerzy was a cheerleader and Knox was Batman. Last night, we celebrated at Nana & Papa's house with all the Tokarz cousins. The kids had a lot of fun...decorating cookies, eating, playing games, running through the inflatable haunted house, and eating some more. Tonight, Grandaddy & Granny Trish came over for dinner before we went trick or treating. They came to the door in "costume"-- my dad was wearing an old man mask and Trish had on a wig & witch hat. The kids were a little scared....they didn't really like Grandad in a mask...but they still had fun.
This was the first year that all 3 kids had no fear of going up to the neighbors' doors and ringing the doorbell, or greeting the people on their doorstep. They had lots of fun with it and so did we.

Goodbye Summer
Summer has been pretty much over for us for a week. I didn't do as well as I hoped keeping up with this blog. Oh well. We had a wonderful summer. Even when I'm exhausted and crabby, I still remind myself that I am very blessed.
Tomorrow Shelby starts kindergarten in Mrs.N's class with 2 of her friends from Little Leopards and 2 new friends she made this summer at her day "camp" plus 12 other new faces and future friends. I still distinctly remember the day I learned I was pregnant with her and the day 7 months later that Dr. W told us we needed to go over to the hospital, the baby needed to come TODAY...the ride up the elevator to the 3rd floor, how I was received by the nurses, what was said , what was done, the song that was playing in the delivery room as they delivered her , seeing her for the first time....( then it gets pretty foggy) ...but then I start to remember again. It was a wonderful, amazing, joyful day.
Tomorrow will be another wonderful day , likely etched in my memory forever. I won't be able to sit and dwell on it as , of course, I have a responsibility to 80+ other students starting their first day of 9th/10th/11th/12th grade. But I will be thinking about her and I'm excited to hear what all she has to tell us at the end of the day !!
Tomorrow is also my first day in my new classroom. This is the first time I have a classroom all to myself!
It's great! I'm so thankful that my first 2 years of teaching are behind me. This year won't be EASY, but the stress of being a new teacher and being a travelling teacher is gone. I'm still anxious-- but I know it will all be ok.
Hope all the other first days of school go well tomorrow and everyone will have memories to treasure forever.....

Week 5 Begins...
Dylan..............................................Knox
Silly girls Kailey & Shelby
Today ( Tuesday) was a fun one! Jerzy spent the day with Nana, shopping, swimming, reading and just enjoying the one-on-one time. Momma, Shelby and Knox were invited to swim with Aunt Angie, Kailey and Dylan. We had a wild and crazy time. Thank you to Angie's mom for taking us to their neighborhood pool. The kids loved playing in a pool just their size.

July 4th Weekend
Happy Independence Day! We had a fun weekend hanging out..relaxing at home ...and gathering with family.
Saturday evening we spent at Nana & Papa's. The kids played outside with their cousins in the kiddie pool until the rain came in. We had a hot dog supper. Then the kids played some more before we headed to set up camp for the Wylie fireworks show. We all really enjoyed that. The kids only covered their ears for a little while and no one cried. We had bubbles and glow neckalces and bracelets plus snacks to keep them entertained until the show started.
On Sunday we relaxed at home and then spent the evening at Grandaddy's and Granny Trish's. We had a great visit with Gran, Brennan, Jim & Becky, Jay & Judy, Joel & Lisa, Kemp & Kelly ( and Heidi & Crash) and had a great cookout thanks to the great hosting efforts of Dad & Trish. The kids love the attention they get.We all had fun catching up and playing with the kids outside.
The girls stayed the night ...having a fun "slumber party" with Aunt BB. The next morning, Knox and Momma went back to join them for breakfast. Shelby and Jerzy helped make delicious pancakes, bacon and fruit.
Shelby was a little irritable for awhile..she was preoccupied with her VERY loose tooth. It FINALLY came out-- and then she was a happy gal!
We are thankful for the opportunity we had to spend some much time with family over the weekend. It was a true blessing...later this week we get to spend time with lots of Tokarz extended family!

Week 4
This week was a good one. We had a few things planned here and there, but for the most part we enjoyed our time at home and I stayed on my toes keeping the kids from killing one another. I did a little bit of work for school .
We went swimming with Ms Vicki. We enjoyed the rain and cooler weather. Shelby spent a day shopping and doing girl stuff with Nana.
Jerzy went back for an extra week of swim lessons where she was challenged by Ms Sandy. Jerzy loves to swim-- each day she swam further and earned more turns off the diving board and/or blocks. One day Shelby tagged along and went swimming with Daddy while Jerzy had her lesson.
On Thursday we picked Aunt BB up and the airport in the morning and she then spent the afternoon with us. Our friend Erin came to visit as well. Momma, Shelby and BB took Jerzy to her swim lesson. Afterwards, BB stayed with the kids while Momma and Daddy went out to dinner on the Square. It was a simple date-- but still very nice and enjoyable.
Friday was a lovely day at home. We passed the morning trying to behave while the carpet sales guy was here. We are planning to replace the carpet downstairs for sure this summer and upstairs either now or later this year. That was such a fun experience dealing with that. As soon as he was gone, we made a batch of chocolate cupcakes and after naptime we made a batch of red velvet cupcakes. That was messy fun!
Daddy and Jerzy went to the last swim lesson...and then we all went to Mike and Vicki's for dinner. It was a wild and crazy time at their house. Uncle Kemp and Kelly are in town also so they were there with BB , Grandaddy and Granny Trish. We caught up with Ryan and Haley as well. So much fun! Such an exciting evening , we wrapped it up by sitting on the patio being entertained by some fireworks and the kids' excitement and amazement at Mr. Mike's motion detector spotlight in the yard. Yee haw.
We have more fun planned this wknd with both sides of the family...more cookouts and fireworks.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July!

Thursday- Library Time
Today was our first visit of the summer to the library. I had been anticipating this day for awhile. Shelby was able to get her library card today! She signed her own name on the form and on the back of her card. She checked out 3 books on her own card. A book about ballerinas, one about a little boy and his daddy, and a non-fiction book about Disney Channel stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. Her brother and sister got books about baseball, dirt bikes, fire trucks , cheerleaders, a story about an iguana and a few others.... We also signed them up for the summer reading program and went to story time. We had a fun time. We spent the afternoon reading our books and I think they played movie theater, school, and who knows what else.
I love to read and I hope they always enjoy reading as well. Some of my fondest memories from childhood are going to the library with my mom, sis and bro. I remember the smells and sounds especially of the original Allen Library that was in the little blue house on Allen Drive next to the fire station.I hope my children will have similar fond memories.

Wednesday- Day 10
Soccer again. It was HOT. Knox had a hard time paying attention...but so did some of the other kids.
Thankfully the coach is very patient and great with kids. The way I got Knox to stay on the field was by telling him he could go see the baseball players when soccer was over! Thanks to Ms Vicki for taking the girls to the park while Knox was at soccer. They were all worn out from the heat and ate a great lunch and took good naps.
We went to Grandaddy's and Granny Trish's house for supper. The kids had fun playing in the yard while Grandaddy sprayed them with the water hose. And then after supper they took a walk to the park and to check out the neighborhood pool. It was a good day.

Tuesday- Day 9
Soccer time this morning. Weather was cool due to the rain we had last night.
Home the rest of the day, trying not to kill each other. For some reason today was a difficult day for getting along and using our inside voices. But we survived. Movie time today was "The Sound of Music" or at least the first hour of it. Chicken fajitas for dinner...then bike time outside...and watching the latest episode of Cake Boss-- the kids learned what a "hearse" is . Bedtime came fast for Jerzy and Shelby. Knox had to use the bathroom a few times and open his window to check on the moon a couple times...but he finally settled down. Tomorrow is another day....

Flag Day and a birthday too
Knox started his soccer "camp" today. He's going for 3 days-- for one hour each day. That's it and that's enough. He had fun, but did get a little upset when it seemed as if he wasn't going to get to " kick it in the goal!" He was frustrated with all the fun ball handling games and drills. But he still wants to go back tomorrow. His friend Taylor is there also with him, so that makes it more fun for him.
We ran a few errands, had lunch and enjoyed quiet naptime. After nap , was the highlight of their day ( maybe) -- but it was the most important part of mine. We stopped at Sonic for Happy Hour ( 3 cherry limeades and 1 strawberry lemonade!) and then headed down the road to the cemetery to visit Grandma Becky.
Today is Flag Day, but also my mom's birthday. She was born 61 years ago. We took her a few flowers that we had picked ourselves. We sang Happy Birthday and then Shelby said, "are they having cake in Heaven?"
Of course! Then that statement sparked Knox to blow out imaginary candles...and then the girls followed.
It was a very touching moment ( see the pic below). And then that was it! They wanted to walk around and look at the other names and flowers at nearby gravesites...and then they wanted to rest on the Disciples monument. We placed a flower on Nanny's grave as well. It was a good visit...a special time.
On the way home we listened to CCR and cranked it up loud in honor of Grandma Becky. We know she is smiling at Jerzy girl singing Susie Q and Shelbs rocking Proud Mary.
Love you and miss you too much Mom!Happy Birthday .
The picture of Knox...I don't know what my favorite thing is in it, but I think the quirkiness and sweetness of it is what makes it a special picture.

Day 5
Friday! Daddy decided to work from home today. That was an exciting surprise for the kids this morning.
He was able to join us at swimming lessons. The kids all did great on the last day. The words "diving board" scared Knox today for some reason, so he watched everyone else go off. The girls' jumped off just fine and with a push from Miss Chelsea they swam back to the side. They were wiped out and took great naps.
They needed that rest because they spent a couple hours this evening with all their cousins at Nana's and Papa's having a pizza party and playing outside. Momma & Daddy enjoyed a nice dinner out with Uncle Chris & Aunt Angie.

Knox with his good friend Taylor waiting for lesson to start...and with his teacher Mr Jon ...and hanging out on the wall while Taylor has her turn. They were so patient and silly with each other.

Jerzy fixing her hair after taking her turn in the water. Then going off the diving board. The male in the water is her teacher this year. However, she only wanted her teacher from last year ( female) to "catch" her.

Shelby tries to talk Chelsea into pushing/pulling her back the wall. Chelsea didn't give in -- she made Shelby swim. Lessons were over-- they were all smiles.

Day 4
During our Playdough/coloring time Knox decided he could work better with his shades on, upside down of course.
All 3 kids went off the diving board.Knox needed a little more help- notice his sisters encouraging him from the side. Their teachers are fabulous. They know some of them from last year as well and that helps my girls especially feel more comfortable.
Another cooler day today. Thank you Lord. This being home together all day, all 4 four us, is getting a little easier. At swim lessons everyone jumped off the diving board!! And Shelby and Jerzy are swimming a little bit further....and Knox is still having the time of his life splashing and getting pushed/pulled around the water by his teacher. One more day of lessons, then it's up to Momma and Daddy to get them in the water to keep practicing.
We had another surprise lunch date today. Knox's buddy from school and swim lessons invited us to join them for lunch at Chick fil A ( actually her mother invited us) . The kids were so excited. We all met another friend ( from Shelby's class) with her mom as well. It was lots of fun. It was our first trip to the new Chick fil A in Allen. And just like every other CfA at lunchtime it was a zoo! But the kids had a blast. We may be making that trip again!
We had more bike time ...some water gun time...and finally some Playdough time. And Momma got some good cleaning in as well. The only downers to the day-- Shelby scraped her hands and knees a couple times while riding her scooter ( she was trying to get ahead of Knox!) and Jerzy got conked in the head with a softball by Knox. He said he was trying to throw it to her and she wasn't paying attention! : ) And oh yeah-- Daddy chipped a tooth ( one he had broken and repaired years ago) at work and had to make a stop at the dentist on the way home. He's good as new again.
Tomorrow's Friday already....wow! Have a great weekend!

Day 3
Today was a great day for many reasons. We had no priorities or committments other than swim lessons. The weather was awesome. I'm very thankful for the rain which brought cooler weather. We were able to spend quite a bit of time outside in the morning and afternoon.
Nana surprised the kids by joining us at swim lessons. And then taking us out to lunch!! It was a nice treat in the middle of the day. The kids were able to nap with the windows open while it rained. After naps, they watched a Hannah Montana episode ( or 2). And then it was bike time outside!!And hula hoop time...chalk time...and let's see how many leaves we can pull off the front tree...

Day 2
Out and about early....donuts for breakfast and a few errands.
Then fun-filled swim lessons.
A nap for everyone except a little 4 year old whose mind just can't slow down.
Movie time ( Toy Story 2!) complete with popcorn and M&Ms.
A little football tossing in the yard for Bubba-- it wasn't too hot for once.
Momma got some alone time too with a run in the morning and then Pampered Chef party at Aunt Angie's, where she was able to get some new stoneware plus new utensils for Daddy to use for making his "Big Country breakfasts."

Snow Day!
As everyone knows by now, we got several inches of snow this week. It was beautiful and exciting. The kids loved it! We hurried home Thursday after school to play outside and then played outside a few more times on Friday and today. We were lucky to have some hand-me-down ski bibs that kept everyone dry & warm.

Time Flies
I wish I could blog regularly like some people. Maybe someday.Time just gets away from me.
I just put a precious 2-year old boy to bed for the last time. Tomorrow he's 3!( But still precious!) I can't believe it.
We had a great afternoon celebrating with friends and family. Knox thoroughly enjoyed his day. Thank you to everyone who helped make it special ( including the firemen of McKinney Station #3!). Tomorrow we will enjoy a relaxing day together as a family. Maybe during that relaxation time I will post pics.
